"I research the history of African soldiers in East Africa, and increasingly, soldiers of African descent globally. I am especially interested in the period between 1890-1918, when thousands of black troops joined imperial armies."

"Mentoring is important because it provides a way to bring people together around professional and personal goals and challenges. It provides a space to share tips and advice, but also just to be heard.
