Michelle Moyd

Associate Professor

Department:
History
Campus:
IU Bloomington
Major:
Africa, East Africa Military, Humanitarianism, and Colonialism

Research Focus

"I research the history of African soldiers in East Africa, and increasingly, soldiers of African descent globally. I am especially interested in the period between 1890-1918, when thousands of black troops joined imperial armies."

About the Center

"Mentoring is important because it provides a way to bring people together around professional and personal goals and challenges. It provides a space to share tips and advice, but also just to be heard. Mentors should always be learning too, so having active mentoring relationships helps with my own professional and personal growth."
