Like all types of writing, personal, research, teaching and other materials that make up your job packet benefit from repeated feedback and revision. Moreover, many students benefit from a dedicated time when they can focus on nothing but writing and can get feedback from peers working on similar projects. Combining these two truisms, we started the Drop in and Write on sessions at the Graduate Mentoring Center to help students find the time to write, create a writing community, and revise these important documents. If you are working on an article or your dissertation, Writing Tutorial Services has some fantastic cohort based programs, but when you turn to trying to describe yourself, your research, your teaching, or your commitment to values like equity and inclusion, Drop in and Write on is the place where you can interact with folks facing the same challenges.
Typically, these writing sessions include some snacks and light conversation regarding our progress. If you'd like to take part of the writing group, which takes place at La Casa Cultural Center, reach out to the Graduate Mentoring Center to be added to the mailing list.
Next session TBA.
